Carers Week 2022 Activities.

This week PROPS has offered carers opportunities to take part in a number of activities including, art and wellbeing sessions, afternoon tea and a visit to the ever popular Minsteracres Retreat Centre.

Minsteracres – a day all about carers being looked after

One carer said: “Minsteracres is a peaceful day out where you can remove yourself from your caring role and take time to think about your own needs and welfare. It is also time to spend with others who are in a similar situation, where you feel you are not alone.

“The staff at Minsteracres welcome you with open arms and hugs, and they served us with lunch and refreshments all day.

“We made flower arrangements and had the choice of therapy treatments through-out the day. We also had a walk around the beautiful grounds and the day was so relaxing.

“I felt the day was all about carers being looked after instead of them looking after others.”

Newcastle Carers were treated to afternoon tea in the city centre.

“I’ve never done anything like this before – didn’t think it would be for me but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you for inviting me.”

PROPS carers living in North Tyneside were treated to afternoon tea closer to the coast.

“What a treat! And the weather was perfect.

“It was lovely spending time with people who understood my struggles but gave me a break from thinking about them. Thank you for thinking about me.”
