Project Linus UK have donated twelve patchwork quilts to PROPS North East to distribute to Young People who access our service who may be ‘in need of a hug’.
Project Linus UK is a volunteer organisation that aims to provide comfort, warmth, and a sense of security to sick and traumatised babies, children and teenagers through the provision of new home-made patchwork quilts and knitted blankets. Linus UK also provides volunteers across the UK the opportunity to contribute to their local community.
The projects volunteers donate carefully and lovingly made patchwork quilts, knitted and crocheted blankets to children in our region from birth to 19 years of age, who are sick, disabled or in need of an extra special hug at certain times in their lives.
Project Linus cannot reach out to every distressed child, but they can help to provide them with tangible evidence that someone cares, along with the physical reassurance that comes with being snuggled up in a quilt.
Each quilt has a unique number and the name of the volunteer who made it, making each quilt a truly personal gift.
PROPS North East would like to thank all the volunteers who have devoted their time, expertise and patience into the making of these unique pieces of craft work, and to Linus Northumbria for thinking about our Young People.
