PROPS held its first Golf Tournament on 19th July.
Nine teams completed the 18-hole golf course at Tynemouth Golf Club. After what seemed like a years’ worth of rain falling in the two weeks leading up to the day, the sun finally came out and the mercury rose to a temperature more in line with summer than autumn – shorts and factor 50 were the order of the day.
The Winners

The Tournament Winners was the E Turnbull & Sons Team. Ben Broadhead received the trophy on behalf of the team (pictured Left)
Best Individual Score was won by Anthony Young playing on the Autotradehub Team (pictured right)
Steve Ralph, playing on the MGL Group Team won the longest drive and the nearest pin was won by Sarah Robson playing on the Jane Broadhead Team.
Our Thanks
PROPS thanks Tynemouth Golf Course for hosting all of the teams who attended the tournament, providing a snack before the teams headed for the first hole, and a well earned curry after completing the 18-hole course.
Thanks also to E Turnbull & Sons for their contribution to the costs of the green fees for the day, Nearest Pin Sponsor, Direct Blinds and Longest Drive Sponsor Joe Bonallie, IFNE.
In addition to raising funds from the tournament, we sold raffle tickets. With four-ball rounds at four golf clubs, including Tynemouth Golf Club, Gino D’acampo Restaurant and Bar Luga vouchers, donated by the Vaulkhard Group, and other prizes to be won, we were able to raise more money on the day.
PROPS would like to say a huge thank you to all the teams who bought places for the tournament and all those who kindly donated prizes for the raffle.
Also, a big thank you to our volunteer Dave Brown who helped to plan and organise the day and Ben Broadhead, a PROPS Trustee, for his support and guidance.
What you helped us to fundraise
With the enthusiasm and generosity of the business who sponsored the tournament, those who played in the tournament, those who donated prizes and those who bought raffle tickets we raised a fantastic £1579.69.
How this will help our Charity
Our fundraising campaigns this year are raising money to help make PROPS more visible in our communities in North Tyneside and Newcastle. This will help us to reach more children, young people and who are affected by someone else’s addiction.
